Traditionally, skin injured through an accident or through surgical intervention is closed using sutures or staples. However, as an alternative to the traditional suture closure, the surgeon may also opt for an adhesive tissue sealant.Advantages:

The Histoacryl tissue seal consists of n-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate, a monomer, which polymerises rapidly on contact with tissue fluids. Histoacryl is dyed in order to enable simple control over the amount applied. The skin adhesive is supplied in a sterile plastic ampoule with a twist-off top.
