DERMABOND topical skin adhesive

DERMABOND is a sterile, liquid, external-to-use topical skin adhesive. DERMABOND can be used alone or as a superficial supplement to absorbable sutures placed inside a wound. Clinical studies have shown that after application DERMABOND skin adhesive acts as a shield against the penetration of microbes in a healing wound.

To reduce the tension at the edges of the wound, the deep layers of the skin, or the subcutaneous tissue, can be sutured before applying DERMABOND skin adhesive.

Includes:

DERMABOND skin adhesive comes in a sterile pre-filled single-use applicator. The applicator consists of a crushable glass ampoule which is housed in a plastic vial with attached applicator tip. An applicator contains 0.5 ml of liquid adhesive. The applicator is blister-packed to keep the product sterile until it is opened or damaged.

The Histoacryl tissue seal consists of n-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate, a monomer, which polymerises rapidly on contact with tissue fluids. Histoacryl is dyed in order to enable simple control over the amount applied. The skin adhesive is supplied in a sterile plastic ampoule with a twist-off top.
