High-Frequency Surgery in the Dental Practice
HF surgery devices operate with high-frequency alternating current and utilize the thermal effect generated in the tissue. Electrical energy is converted into heat energy, using frequencies between 300 kHz and 4 MHz. The form and intensity of the chosen current must be adapted to the type of tissue being operated on. In principle, the lowest possible frequency for the tissue should always be selected. This energy or current is used for cutting, coagulating, or for combined applications.
