Use of Hand Sanitisers in the Dental Practice

Hand disinfection is simultaneously the simplest, yet most important hygiene measure that is taken in every dental practice. When properly applied, highly effective hand sanitisers lead to a hygienic working method; thus improving general hygiene in the surgery.

Skin Compatibility

Because disinfectants are used by all personnel, skin compatibility must also be noted when choosing the proper sanitiser.

Most hand sanitisers have an alcoholic solution base. The hydrophilic properties of this component is also the reason for skin drying out, as often occurs. Therefore, we also include skin-friendly products in our selection, such as Softa man pure or Promanum pure. These products use special ingredients like panthenol, allantoin, without using dyes or parfumes to care for the skin.

 

Effectiveness  

The active spectrum of most hand sanitisers includes bacteria, viruses, fungi and sometimes even fungal spores.


Within the dental practice, it is recommended to use a hand sanitiser with an active spectrum that is as wide as possible e.g. Desderman pure when coming in contact with many different products. 

Activation time, as indicated by the manufacturer, should also be noted depending on the situation. For example, Softa-Man acute boasts a particularly fast activation time.

No Comparison: Effectiveness and Skin Compatibility

The hand hygiene of dental personnel, as with all medical activities, is one of the biggest sources of error in hygiene management and, therefore, deserves special attention. A good selection, and possible simultaneous use, of multiple products can sustainably improve hygiene in the dental practice.
