Wound Plasters for Quick Care of Minor Injuries
These wound plasters typically combine a wound pad with an adhesive plaster, making them ideal for treating minor injuries such as abrasions, small cuts, or scratches. They are also a practical and essential component of many first aid kits.
If you are looking for additional dressing materials or products for wound closure and fixation, you can find a comprehensive overview in the Dressing Materialss category.
Wound Plasters in Various Formats
Depending on the type and size of the wound, wound plasters are available in a variety of designs. In addition to classic plasters, there are elastic plasters, such as the MaiMed-plast Elastic Wound Plaster, ideal for wounds on flexible or moving areas, and hypoallergenic sensitive plasters, such as the Hansaplast Sensitive, suitable for patients with very sensitive skin. Many of the wound plasters we offer are also dirt- and water-repellent or fully waterproof.
Our range includes a wide selection of different wound plaster types and wound dressings from leading brands and manufacturers, such as the sterile, self-adhesive Cosmopor Wound Dressing from Hartmann, Hansaplast Classic from BSN medical, or the Hansaplast Children’s Sensitive Strips, also suitable for patients with delicate skin.
Adhesive Plasters & Dressings for Professional Use
Wound plasters for professional use are typically available as rolls, allowing them to be cut to the required length. Depending on the manufacturer, these plaster rolls come in various widths and can be tailored to individual needs. A particularly recommended option is the hypoallergenic DermaPlast SOFT Wound Plaster, which, thanks to its cross-elasticity, can be easily applied to conical body areas and sensitive skin. In addition to non-sterile rolls, sterile plasters are also available, individually packaged and sealed to ensure they remain sterile until use.
Depending on the application, wound plasters vary not only in size but also in the wound pad, which may feature different coatings. In addition to standard pads, there are plaster strips with a aluminium-coated surface, such as Aluplast Strips, which prevent the plaster from sticking to the wound and are also suitable for patients with plaster allergies.
For employees in the food processing industry, there are detectable wound plasters that can be easily identified thanks to their bright blue colour and a metal strip embedded beneath the wound pad.
For small or larger finger injuries, a finger bandage is ideal. These are pre-shaped strips with an extra-long adhesive tape, which can be securely wrapped around the finger multiple times for a reliable fit.
Wound Care with Sterile Wound Dressings
Sterile plasters and wound dressings are used to treat postoperative wounds as well as other injuries, such as burns or abrasions, helping to prevent bacteria from entering the wound. The breathable, sterile dressings generally promote faster healing. Many of these plasters and dressings also feature rounded corners and a transparent, skin-friendly adhesive film, allowing monitoring of the surrounding skin, such as with the Hydrofilm Plus dressing from Paul Hartmann.
Depending on the size and type of wound, there are various dressings optimised for specific applications. For instance, sterile, waterproof dressings allow patients to come into contact with water without introducing germs, dirt, or other contaminants to the wound. Highly absorbent dressings with good cushioning, such as the sterile Vliwasorb Adhesive dressing from Lohmann-Rauscher, are also available. Some dressings are designed for pain-free removal, which is especially beneficial on hairy areas of skin.
