Protective Covers for Treatment and Massage Tables
Couch rolls are used in medical practices to maintain hygiene and protect the surface of the examination couch. Also known as medical bed paper, these rolls are typically made from bonded tissue or cellulose, providing both high absorbency and tear resistance. In addition to offering mechanical protection, they also provide the patient with enhanced comfort, particularly when lying on the couch unclothed.
Medical bed paper also helps to reduce contamination of the examination surface. For this purpose, rolls with a PE-coated, liquid-resistant backing are available, which means the couch requires less frequent disinfection. This not only saves resources but also protects the couch upholstery from premature wear.
Couch rolls are available in a variety of widths and lengths to suit different needs and applications. They typically consist of multiple layers of cellulose, with two-ply rolls being the most common. Depending on the supplier, rolls can be purchased individually or in cartons containing multiple rolls (usually 6 or 9). Patient & Medical Underlays – Practical and Versatile
Medical underlays consist of multiple layers and are available in various sizes, with 60x90 cm being the most common. The protective sheets typically feature a core of cellulose fibres, providing excellent absorbency. To prevent liquids from seeping through and soiling the surface beneath, underlays are equipped with a liquid-resistant PE backing. The top layer is made from a soft, skin-friendly textile fleece, ensuring comfort even during direct contact with the skin without causing irritation.
Medical underlays have multiple applications. They are ideal as a supplement to examination table rolls during treatments involving high fluid volumes (e.g., wound irrigations). They are also commonly used as bed protection for patients with incontinence, both in hospitals and in home care, safeguarding mattresses and bedding from urine leakage.
Underlays are also popular in nurseries and paediatric practices as changing mats, thanks to their high absorbency and soft surface that is gentle on delicate baby skin. After use, the absorbent underlays can be disposed of, ensuring a high level of hygiene and reducing the risk of infection transmission.
Perforations & Roll Holders Make Tearing Easy
Examination table covers are perforated at regular intervals, making it easy to tear off individual sheets. This means that when changing the table roll between patients, there is no need for scissors — the used portion can simply be torn off by hand.
The couch roll is mounted using a paper roll holder at the head or foot of the examination couch, allowing it to be quickly pulled across the surface. If the couch does not have a roll holder or cannot be retrofitted, the TORK table roll dispenser can be used as an alternative. This dispenser is compatible with all standard treatment couches made from round or square tubing and can be attached in just a few minutes.
