Light-Curing Composites at Praxisdienst
Composites are the most commonly used materials in dentistry for anterior aesthetic reconstructions and for cavity restorations or seals of posterior teeth. Dental fillings with restorative composite adhere very firmly to the tooth and are extremely durable. Composite restorations are customizable to match the colour of existing teeth, making them a very popular choice. In the composite category, you will find different types of composites, e.g. light-curing, dual-curing or with low polymerization shrinkage. (Shrinkage stress is the pressure put on the adhesive and surrounding tooth structure while polymerizing. If the pressure exceeds the adhesive bond, or the strength of either the composite or tooth, it can cause problems.)
