Cupping therapy creates a vacuum using spherical glass cups (cupping glasses). To prevent painful pinching during the vacuum massage, the rim of the glass is carefully rounded or even bent outward for safety.

Cupping Using Heat to Create a Vacuum

The vacuum in a cupping glass can be generated in different ways. To create the vacuum using heat, a small burning cotton ball is briefly held inside a closed cupping glass, heating the air within. The glass is then applied to the skin. For this method, the Karl Hecht cupping glass without ball is ideal. As the heated air cools on the skin, a vacuum forms, drawing the patient’s skin into the cup. The cupping glasses are available individually in various sizes.

Cupping Glasses for Wet and Dry Cupping in Various Sizes

The glass cupping cups are available in sizes ranging from 2.5 to 6.5 cm. Larger cups are generally used for covering bigger areas and typically create stronger suction, while smaller cups allow for targeted, precise application. The high-quality glass is usually easy to clean and can be reused.
