Compression Bandages for Compression Therapy
Compression bandages are used to apply compression dressings and perform compression therapy. This treatment applies localized pressure to veins and lymphatic vessels with the goal of increasing blood flow, aiding the removal of waste products, and supporting the reduction of edema.
Short- and Long-Stretch Bandages for Strong Compression
In the treatment of acute and venous oedema, thrombophlebitis, or venous leg ulcers, strongly compressive bandages are often applied. For very strong compression, the PütterFlex compression bandage from Hartmann is particularly suitable. This cross- and bi-elastic short-stretch bandage is easy to apply and provides compression with a high working pressure and low resting pressure. The skin-friendly bandage is made of 100% cotton, is boilable and sterilisable, making it ideal for repeated use.
For strong compression, the Pütter bandage from Hartmann can also be used. This robust short-stretch bandage is applied using the counter-directional bandaging technique according to Pütter and is specifically designed for the treatment of chronic venous leg disorders. Since it also provides compression with a low resting pressure, patients can comfortably wear it overnight if needed.
For long-stretch bandages providing strong compression, the Lastodur straff bandage is highly recommended. This durable elastic long-stretch bandage offers an impressive 180% extensibility, making it ideal for leg bandages or as a sports support bandage. In addition to delivering high working pressure, the compression bandage provides elevated resting pressure, helping to relieve affected joints and muscles during both rest and activity. Furthermore, the durable elastic bandage is washable at 60 °C and can be sterilised (steam at 134 °C), allowing safe repeated use.
Compression Bandages for Compression, Support and Relief
In addition to their use as standard compression bandages, many compression bandages can also be applied in other areas, such as for the prophylaxis or aftercare of venous leg conditions, for the fixation of splints, as supportive and relief bandages, or as compressive wound dressings. Examples of these versatile compression bandages include the Idealast and Idealast-haft bandages from Hartmann.
The Idealast bandage is a durable elastic ideal bandage with short stretch, suitable for medium-strength compression. The Idealast-haft bandage additionally has cohesive properties. As a cohesive ideal bandage, it features a double-sided adhesive effect for excellent adhesion. Both elastic bandages are ideal for the aftercare of venous conditions and for applying compressive wound dressings as well as supportive and relief bandages. The latex-free Idealast-haft bandage is available in our online shop in white, as well as in blue and red as the Idealast-haft Colour.
