Adhesive Plasters for Fixing Dressings, Catheters & Cannulas
Adhesive fixation plasters are used in medical settings to secure catheters and cannulas as well as wound dressings, compresses, and other bandages. They are available either as rolls or as individual, typically sterile plasters. For patients with sensitive skin or allergies, hypoallergenic, sensitive fixation plasters are also available to ensure safe and comfortable application.
Adhesive Plaster Rolls
One of the most popular roll plasters is Leukosilk from BSN Medical. This white acetate silk fixation plaster comes in a roll and can be torn by hand both lengthwise and crosswise. The latex-free plaster is gentle on the skin and ideal for securing cannulas, catheters, and wound dressings. It is available in multiple widths: 1.25 cm, 2.5 cm, and 5 cm.
For particularly secure fixation, the strongly adhesive Leukoplast Fixation Plaster is an excellent choice. Also supplied in roll form, its zinc oxide–rubber resin adhesive ensures long-lasting adherence, making it perfect for high-stress dressing fixation. The water-repellent plaster is available in skin-tone on 5-metre rolls and in various widths.
Individually Packaged Fixation Plasters
For securing cannulas, we recommend the Cosmopor i.v. Cannula Plaster. It features a soft carrier fleece to protect the insertion site and a separate cushion pad to prevent pressure points.
If close monitoring of the insertion site is important, the Curafix® i.v. Control Fixation Dressing with a transparent polyurethane window is ideal. It is both germ- and water-resistant, providing reliable protection against dirt and bacteria. For smaller requirements, the skin-friendly Curafix i.v. Classic plaster is suitable. Its central punched hole simplifies cannula fixation and, thanks to its cost-effective price, it is particularly economical for everyday use.
