For rapid wound closure, the Histoacryl Tissue Adhesive from B.Braun is highly recommended. This adhesive consists of a monomer (n-Butyl-2-Cyanoacrylate) that polymerises within 10 seconds upon contact with tissue fluid. Additionally, it forms a protective layer that shields the wound from bacterial contamination.
At Praxisdienst, you will also find the Ethicon DERMABOND mini Skin Adhesive. This medical adhesive is applied directly from an ampoule to the skin and ensures secure approximation of wound edges. Because the adhesive adapts to the natural movements of the skin, no additional dressing is required. For optimal strength and flexibility, it is recommended to apply the skin glue in multiple layers.
It is important to ensure that the skin adhesive is applied only to clean wounds that are no longer bleeding. This reduces the risk of introduced pathogens interfering with the wound healing process.
