Wound Closure Strips

Adhesive wound closure strips, also known as Steri-Strips or skin closure strips, are used to close small wounds. Closure with these strips is typically primary, meaning the use of surgical sutures is not required. One major advantage of using wound closure strips is the reduced risk of infection. Unlike surgical sutures, Steri-Strips do not create additional puncture wounds, eliminating the infection risk associated with suture needle entry points.

Using adhesive wound closure strips is generally painless and can be applied without local anaesthesia. To prevent skin irritation, the strips are made from a skin-friendly backing material and coated with a well-tolerated adhesive, such as acrylate glue. The strips are breathable and can remain on the wound for several days without issues.
