Cooling Compresses
Ice Packs at the Dentist
Cooling compresses, also known as cold compresses or cold packs, are therapeutic tools used to provide pain relief and reduce inflammation and swelling. Cold compression works by constricting blood vessels, reducing blood flow to the affected area, and numbing nerve endings, which helps relieve pain, and reduce swelling. Cold packs come in various formats, including instant cold packs, or as hot and cold packs, and can be purchased in disposable or reusable options. Instant ice packs are frequently used in first aid scenarios, treating injuries, such as sprains, strains, bruises, and muscle aches. They are essential first aid supplies in medical practices, during outdoor excursions, sports activities, and in dental offices. Thanks to their compact and slim design, the robust instant cold compresses for pain can be easily stored in a first aid kit.
Reusable Hot & Cold Packs
Some gel packs are used for first aid in both cold and heat therapy. Encased within a temperature-resistant film, the gel in these compresses remains securely contained, even when exposed to varying temperatures. These versatile gel packs are particularly suitable for alleviating pain, treating sprains, and soothing muscle soreness.
The Cold-Warm Compress from Dahlhausen is ideal for cooling swellings, bruises, sprains, minor injuries, bruises, muscle stiffness or after surgical procedures in dentistry. Following tooth extractions or operations, the gel pack is perfect for cooling the affected area to minimise pain, inflammation and swelling. The compact and convenient size of the cold pack also allows it to be easily given to the patient for personal use.
The versatile compress can be used cold or hot and is designed for repeated use. To use as a hot compress, simply put the gel pack in the microwave or heat up in water. For use in cold treatment, simply freeze. The cold-warm compresses ensure a consistent release of cold or heat. The hot and cold packs are filled with an environmentally friendly blue gel substance.
In the ice pack category, we offer you a wide range of products for instant relief. Our range includes reusable cold packs, single-use instant ice packs, the miradont SOS dental box, and protective fleece sheaths for compresses. The sheaths for the hot and cold compresses protect the skin from extreme cold or heat and are available in packs of 10 pieces.
Ice Packs
Cold therapies can offer instant relief from inflammation, aches and muscle pain. These can be applied in the form of ice packs, cold gel compresses, ice sprays or - if necessary - as an ice bath. To ensure safe application, it is crucial to place a soft, dry cloth as a barrier between the injured area and the cold compress, preventing direct contact with the skin. This precautionary measure helps avoid any potential discomfort or skin damage.
For optimal use, it is recommended to store ice packs in a freezer or icebox for approximately 2 hours prior to application. The gel inside the cold pack retains its flexibility even at temperatures as low as -18 degrees Celsius, allowing the compress to conform comfortably to the body part being treated. These versatile compresses provide immediate pain relief and reduce swelling, making them ideal for a range of conditions such as toothache, insect bites, sports injuries, strains, bruises, pulled miscles, post-operative recovery, and cooling children with fever.
Ice packs are intended for external use and should not come into direct contact with the skin. It is important to ensure that the cold temperature remains within tolerable limits. To achieve this, taking regular cooling breaks is crucial. It is recommended to have intervals of approximately 20 minutes between applications. They make a great addition to any first aid kit.
Heat Therapy
In our shop, we offer hot and cold packs that can be used as part of heat therapy to address various conditions, including circulatory disorders, rheumatic complaints, sore muscles, muscle tension, tension headaches, stiffness, and chronic pain. When heated, these packs promote blood flow, induce relaxation, and can relieve pain. They serve as an excellent alternative to traditional hot water bottles for heat therapy. The versatile compresses can be heated in hot water or the microwave, allowing them to function effectively as heat pads.
Heat packs, similar to cold compresses, are intended for external use and should not directly contact the skin. The Protective Fleece Sheaths for cold-warm compresses in our shop are best suited for this purpose. These sheaths help moderate the intensity of cold or heat effects, providing a comfortable experience. In the cooling compresses category, you will discover a variety of hot and cold compresses.
