ECG Vacuum Systems
Quick ECG Recordings with the Electrode Vacuum System
The vacuum system presents an economical and environmentally friendly alternative to standard, disposable and adhesive ECG electrodes. With help of the vacuum pump, the electrodes are sucked to the skin to offer such a secure grip, that it is not necessary to remove chest hair in most cases. In stress ECGs, the use of a vacuum system guarantees a firm hold of the electrodes despite the patient’s movement and perspiration.
Whether for PC ECG machines or portable ECG machines – the systems can be combined with almost every standard ECG machine. Most electrode suction systems are available in different versions. The choice between table models, wall models or mobile models with trolley depends on the spatial conditions of the surgery or hospital.
Many manufacturers offer both classic models with power cable and models with battery operation. Thanks to the integrated battery, those mobile devices can be used in different rooms and may even be taken on house calls.
Strässle Vacuum Systems
The manufacturer Strässle has specialised in the design and creation of ECG vacuum systems for use in healthcare sectors. The most popular products are the Strässle DT-80 and the ST-100. Both models are equipped with an automatic blow-out function, which removes residual moisture before and after use.
The device is controlled with a practical handheld. The vacuum area can be adjusted in four pressure steps. As a result, the vacuum can be adjusted to the use (resting-ECG or ergometry) and to the individual patient (slightly or very hairy chest).
The silver/silver chloride electrodes of the Strässle DT vacuum systems can be cleaned with alcohol-based disinfectants to allow for a high level of hygiene during examinations. Additionally, the electrodes can be replaced by the user, which means that it doesn’t need to be sent away to change them.
Each model is available with different arms, which have different adjustment and attachment options. In general the arms can be pivoted to adjust them to every examination situation.
To facilitate electrode application, the electrodes for the extremities and chest are colour coded. As a result, the doctor saves precious time and reduces the risk of mix-ups.
