Ophthalmoscopes
Ophthalmoscopes for Examination of the Ocular Fundus
Ophthalmoscopes are diagnostic instruments used to examine the ocular fundus for changes (ophthalmoscopy). Especially the retina and the blood vessels that supply the eye can be inspected during an ophthalmoscopy.
Basically, a distinction can be made between direct and indirect ophthalmoscopy. Direct ophthalmoscopy uses an ophthalmoscope to examine the ocular fundus from a close distance. Indirect ophthalmoscopy requires a magnifying glass and a light source, such as a slit lamp. Since the distance is greater with this examination method, many patients find it more comfortable.
Most direct ophthalmoscopy instruments consist of an instrument head and a handle and are available with different light sources. LED lamps have a longer service life as well as a higher illuminance than xenon halogen lamps. Another advantage of LED lamps is their low energy consumption, which is reflected in less frequent charging cycles.
Instruments from the Quality Manufacturer HEINE Optotechnik
In this category we offer you a large selection of ophthalmic equipment from the German manufacturer HEINE. The ophthalmoscopes, retinoscopes and hand slit lamps of this manufacturer are characterised by their high-quality workmanship, their long service life and their excellent diagnostic quality. Whether it's the HEINE mini3000 pocket otoscope with dustproof housing and 18 lenses, the HEINE BETA 200 ophthalmoscope, a direct ophthalmoscope with aspheric lens and practical accessory set consisting of rechargeable handle, instrument head, a hard shell case and a compatible 3.5V halogen replacement bulb or the HEINE BETA 200 LED streak retinoscope - at Praxisdienst you are guaranteed to find the right HEINE instrument for your needs.
Safely Diagnose the Undilated Eye
Many instruments, such as the KaWe PICCOLIGHT, can also be used with undilated pupils. The instruments are designed to provide a good view of the ocular fundus without the use of pupil dilating drugs. This is particularly pleasant for the patient, as his or her driving ability is not restricted after the examination.
Aspherical Optics for Interference-Free Diagnostics
HEINE Optotechnik uses the so-called aspherical optical system AOS in many of its ophthalmoscopes, which reliably eliminates interfering light reflections during the examination and thus ensures a reliable diagnostic position. The image of the retina is not only particularly bright and large, but also rich in contrast.
Monocular Indirect Ophthalmoscopy with the PanOptic Ophthalmoscope
A "panoramic view" of the ocular fundus is provided by the PanOptic Ophthalmoscope from Welch Allyn. It not only offers a larger field of view, but also 26 % higher magnification. The 25° panoramic viewing angle ensures a perfect overview and facilitates diagnosis. The increased distance between doctor and patient is another decisive advantage of the PanOptic ophthalmoscope.
Retinoscopes
Retinoscopes are used in ophthalmology for the objective assessment of refractive errors. In contrast to subjective refraction, this examination procedure is also suitable for small children, people with disabilities or uncooperative patients.
The streak retinoscope is also used to determine curvature of the cornea (astigmatism). This examination is based on the principle that the reflections of the light band on the iris and pupil are aligned differently in case of astigmatism. Agreement occurs only in two positions that correspond to the astigmatic principal axes. The position of these axes is then determined with a tabo scheme.
