High-Quality Bandage Materials
Conforming and cohesive bandages are popular dressing materials, due to their flexible use in wound care and in the application of stabilising and support bandages. Depending on the intended use, the lightweight bandages are available in different widths and with different features. Generally, one differentiates between non-elastic and elastic conforming bandages and whether or not they are self-adhesive. Ideal bandages for example, are often used in sports medicine in order to treat injured joints with associated damage to the postural apparatus.
With Praxisdienst you will find a large assortment of high-quality, stretchable, non-stretchable, stick and non-stick bandage materials for every need.
Versatile Elastic Gauze Bandages
Depending on the kind of injury and intended use of the dressing material, one can choose between elastic and inelastic bandages. Elastic bandages are primarily used to secure wound dressings, such as ES compresses, to joints or conical body parts. Cohesive elastic bandages are ideal for applying compression bandages, if strong compression needs to be applied to limbs due to oedema.
Ideal bandages with short stretch are perfect for this purpose, as they provide low resting pressure and high working pressure.
The bandages contain a high percentage of breathable cotton and stand out due to their wearing comfort and air-permeability. As a result the elastic bandage materials are particularly skin-friendly and don't restrict the flexion and movement of joints even over longer time periods.
Ideal Bandages for Use as Support and Compression Bandages
Ideal bandages are often applied in sports medicine to secure injured limbs and treat sprains. The elastic cotton conforming bandages are suitable for applying both preventive and compression bandages to treat stasis oedema and thrombophlebitis. Ideal bandages are available as cohesive elastic bandages and as textile elastic short stretch bandages. While the cohesive support bandages are self-adhesive and do not need to be additionally secured, standard elastic bandages need to be attached with bandage clips to prevent them from slipping.
Non-Elastic Gauze Bandages
The rigid bandage is often used as a conforming bandage to immobilise body parts. Together with compresses and plasters, it belongs to the most important dressing materials for use in wound care, the treatment of injuries and burns.
In general, gauze bandages are non-sterile as they do not come into direct contact with the wound area, but they can be sterilised if needed. However, we also offer sterile gauze rolls for special applications like post-surgical care of opened tendon sheaths and joints or tamponades. If used with sterile wound dressings, these rolls effectively minimise the risk of infections.
Bandages for Splints, Support Dressings, Covers & Bandage Underlays
Classic conforming bandages are often cohesive, which means that they adhere to themselves to offer a high level of stability. As a result, the consumables are used to secure splints and to apply light support bandages (e.g. after distortions or torn muscle fibres). The adhesive bandages, such as the Elastomull products from BSN medical, are also suitable for use as an overlay for plaster casts. Like gauze bandages, the cohesive support bandages can be used as an underlay or padding to protect the skin from overlying bandages, thus improving the overall wearing comfort.
