Elastic Bandages
Elastic Bandages for Compression Bandages
Elastic bandages are used for compression wraps and compression therapy. With this type of therapy, localised pressure is applied to the veins and lymphatic vessels to increase blood flow, excrete waste and support the reduction of oedema.
Short and Long Stretch Bandages for a Strong Compression Effect
Generally, highly compressive compression bandages are applied for the treatment of acute and venous stasis oedema, thrombophlebitis or leg ulcers. Hartmann's PütterFlex compression bandage is particularly suitable for strong compression. This transversely and bi-elastic short-stretch bandage is easy to apply and provides compression with high working pressure and low resting pressure. The dressing is made from 100% cotton and is well tolerated by the skin. As it is boil-proof and sterilisable, the bandage is ideal for multiple uses.
The Pütter bandage from Hartmann can be used for strong compression. This strong short-stretch bandage is used for the counter-running bandaging technique according to Pütter and is specially designed for the treatment of chronic venous conditions of the leg. Since it also features low resting pressure, patients can wear it at night without any problems. The bandage can be kept on for up to three days and can be used for injuries, sprains, as well as varicose vein sclerotherapy, acute and venous oedema, ulcus cruris and thrombophlebitis.
As a long-stretch bandage for strong compression, we recommend the Lastodur strong from Hartmann. This permanently elastic long-stretch bandage has a high stretchability of 180% and is ideal for use as an ankle, knee or leg bandage or as a sports bandage. In addition to a high working pressure, the compression bandage ensures a high resting pressure and thus relieves affected joints and muscles during resting and active phases. Furthermore, the permanently elastic bandage can be washed at 60°C and sterilised (steam at 134°C). As a result, it can be reused several times without any problems.
Elastic Bandages to Compress, Support and Relieve
Many elastic bandages can be used for a variety of applications, e.g. for the prophylaxis or aftercare of venous conditions of the leg, for the securement of splints, as a support and relief bandage or as a compressive wound dressing. These universally applicable bandages include Idealast and Idealast-haft from Hartmann.
The Idealast bandage is a permanently elastic "ideal" type bandage with short stretch that can be used for medium-strength compression. The Idealast-haft bandage is additionally equipped with cohesive properties. As a cohesive bandage, it has a double-sided adhesive effect to prevent it from slipping. Both elastic bandages are perfectly suitable for treating venous disorders, for applying cohesive wound dressings on injured areas and for applying support and relief bandages. The Idealast-haft cohesive bandage with latex-free coating is available white, blue or red.
Additionally, we offer elastic adhesive bandages with adhesive coating that can be used as support and relief bandages. The Panelast Adhesive Bandage, for example is both length- and sideways elastic. It has a porous adhesive coating to ensure an exceptional hold, as well as high permeability for air and water vapour. The breathability of the self-adhering, skin-friendly cotton bandage is guaranteed to have a positive effect on wound healing.
