Gauze or Cellulose Swabs

Gauze balls, pads and swabs are popular medical products in the bandages & dressing materials category, as they have an extremely wide range of uses, and are definitely a must have in first aid equipment. The high absorbency of cotton gauze swabs and cellulose pads makes them ideal for cleaning blood, secretion, water and dirt from wounds. Cotton swabs are especially suited for use in the operating theatre as they are low-linting, thanks to their special structure. Cellulose swabs, on the other hand, are more often used in medical outpatient areas. 

Medical swabs are usually supplied in a sterile or non-sterile roll and are pre-perforated and ready for use. For quick removal, the roll is placed in a dispenser box. This makes it easy to remove the cotton swabs and use them, for example, to apply skin disinfectants or to stop bleeding in small puncture wounds. However, cotton or cellulose swabs are not only suitable as absorbent material, but can also be used for padding small dressings or even as wound dressings. The swabs in our shop can be purchased with a bulk discount if you order above a certain amount.

A Wide Range of Sterile & Non-Sterile Swabs

In the Gauze Balls & Swabs category, we offer a broad selection of specialised cotton and cellulose swabs. Particularly popular among the cellulose swabs are the Pur-Zellin Cellulose Sterile Swabs from Hartmann. These have highly bleached dressing cellulose, which is non-dusting and abrasion-resistant, and is therefore excellent for skin disinfection or for use as an absorbent pad, for example after a blood sample has been taken. The Pur-Zellin is available pre-perforated on a sterile roll of 500 pieces and can be stored in a practical dispenser box to protect from contamination.

For skin cleaning and disinfection, you will find ready-to-use alcohol swabs in our shop. The alcohol swabs are soaked with 70% isopropyl alcohol and are suitable for local disinfection during punctures or injections. As the disposable alcohol swabs are individually packed, they are also ideally protected from drying out. The Quickpad Pad Dispenser that we stock is delivered with contents (150 alcohol swabs) and can be used as a sharps bin when empty.

Sling Gauze Swabs are often used for wound treatment. These are made of gauze with cut edges facing inwards, which prevents fraying of the ends. The absorbent material makes the sling gauze swabs ideal for absorbing wound fluid and applying disinfectant. A common size of this type of swab is the size of a plum, but the cotton swabs are available in different swab sizes and pack sizes, depending on your needs.

In addition to sterile and non-sterile cellulose swabs and cotton swabs, we also offer swabs for specific treatments, such as the Pro-ophta Lancet Sponges from Lohmann-Rauscher. Intended for use in ophthalmological procedures, they are available in 18 packs of 10 pieces each. They have plastic handles for easy handling and low-linting sponge tips.
