Adhesive Tape
Adhesive Tape for securing Bandages, Catheters & Needles
Adhesive tapes, also known as surgical tapes or medical tapes are used in medical sectors to secure probes and catheters as well as wound dressings, compresses and swabs. They are available as tape rolls or as individually sealed, sterile plasters. For patients with allergies or sensitive skin, there are special medical tapes made from hypoallergenic material.
Roll Tapes
As a rule, adhesive surgical tapes can be torn by hand so that there is no need to use scissors.
One particularly popular roll tape is Leukosilk from BSN Medical. It is made from white acetate silk and can be torn both lengthwise and sideways, which makes the sensitive skin tape ideal for securing needles and catheters as well as for fixing wound dressings. Moreover, the Leukosilk adhesive tape is latex-free and can be used by patients with latex allergies.
For particularly secure fixation, we recommend the highly adhesive Leukoplast tape. Due to its zinc-oxide caoutchouc resin adhesive, the dressing guarantees extra strong adhesion even under heavy stress. Additionally, the skin-coloured carrier material made from rayon fibre is robust and water-repellent. As a result, Leukoplast is perfect for dressing securement under heavy stress.
As a particularly wide tape, we offer Curafix H from Lohmann Rauscher. It is made from elastic, non-woven material and coated with polyacrylate adhesive for use on larger surfaces.
Of course, you will also find many plasters on rolls, such as the hypoallergenic Omnifilm with transparent foil or the Rollpore fleece plaster. The roll contains a protective ring and the non-woven plaster is coated with hypoallergenic, solution-free hot-melt adhesive that is ideal for patients with sensitive skin. Depending on the wound and application, the plaster is available in various sizes.
Individually Sealed Tapes
For special applications, we offer individually packed and sterile sealed plasters, such as the Cosmopor i.V cannula dressings for sterile treatment of injection sites. The dressing with soft carrier fleece was designed for fixing cannulas and to prevent the wound from clogging or being contaminated with dirt. If needed, the tape can be used with separate padding to additionally protect the skin from pressure marks. The white Cosmopor plaster is available in packs of 50.
If you want to be able to monitor the injection site without needing to lift the tape, you can use the Hydrofilm i.v. needle dressing made of transparent, semi-permeable polyurethane foil. It is germ and waterproof and provides reliable protection against dirt and bacteria.
If a small plaster is sufficient for protecting the wound area, you may use the skin-friendly and breathable Curafix i.v. Classic plasters. The punched hole at their centre facilitates the fixation of i.v. needles and their affordable price makes the plasters particularly economical.
Moreover, this category offers a range of medical adhesive tape for covering the eyes of children and the Pro-optha K eye dressing with cotton gauze compress for wound protection and care after surgical procedures. In Medical Plasters category, you will additionally find a range of self-adherent bandages plasters, such as the Cosmopor Sterile dressing pad or the 3M Tegaderm film dressings.
