Tapes
Tape for Medical and Orthopaedic Wraps
Among other things, joint tape is understood as medical plaster strips that are used for applying functional wraps. Whether they are used as a preventive measure or treatment, tape wraps do not immobilise the joint or muscle completely. The adhesive tape - or kinesiology tape simply prevents excessive or undesired movements. The bandage not only supports the joint, taping also provides a better perception of bodily movements and can prevent tissue swelling. As a result, the consumables are particularly suitable for preventive treatment during sport and for treating sports injuries.
Effects
The dressings adhere to the skin and transfer the forces created by movement. As a result, they can help supporting e.g. the capsular ligaments of joints. Additionally, their compressive effect acts against tissue swelling and supports pain relief. This makes them ideal for splinting and supporting fractures, wounds and injuries. They can, for example, be used when an injured finger needs to be secured to a healthy finger.
Applications
The adhesive bandages can be used for a wide range of applications. While medical tape is used as a preventive measure by athletes, medical professionals use it for treatment and immobilisation. Generally, the tape wraps are applied to extremities and joints like the knees, elbows or shoulders. However, they can also be applied to the trunk.
