The Dermatoscope for Skin Examination in Dermatology
The dermatoscope is a diagnostic instrument used in dermatology to perform thorough examinations of a patient's skin (dermoscopy) for skin lesions or signs of cancer, such as melanoma. A dermatologist will use this device for skin cancer prevention, early recognition and screening with the most common use being diagnostic observation of moles for possible melanoma. A dermoscopy device typically consists of a light source combined with a microscope and a contact plate, and it comes in various versions thereof, e.g., a pocket dermascope.
Wide Range of Dermatoscopes & Dermatology Products
In this category, you will find dermatoscope heads which can be used together with a compatible handle or battery handle (rechargeable handle), as well as the compatible contact plates. As with compact, polarised light dermatoscopes, some instrument heads can be used with dermoscopy oil as a contact liquid, which makes the outer skin layer transparent; thus allowing for a more accurate diagnosis. Others, like the Heine Delta 20T or many Dermlite models from 3gen, can even be connected to a digital camera to document the results of the examination. Such images from the dermoscopy help determine proper treatment of the lesions, as a photo can be further evaluated without requiring the patient to be present.
Our online shop offers you a large assortment of products from DermLite as well as those with scaled contact plates from Heine Optotechnik, Welch Allyn, KaWe and Riester. In addition to the classic dermatoscope offered here, you may also browse polarised light dermatoscopes and pocket versions. If you're looking for a specific brand such as Heine or Dermlite, for example, you can use our filter function to only show dermoscopy products from 3gen Dermlite or Heine.
