At the moment, we are experiencing delays in delivery due to the extremely high demand. We are making every effort to keep waiting times to a minimum by working extra shifts, even on the weekends. Additionally, we are trying to procure as many stocks of products like face masks, disinfectants, etc. as possible. We are trying to process every order, especially those placed by customers from medical fields. Should we not be able to process certain orders, we will contact the concerned customers in a timely manner. Thank you for your understanding.
Hand Sanitizer for Surgeries, Hospitals & Labs
While the use of soap and water is important for the daily hand hygiene of health care workers, regular hand disinfection with a special hand sanitiser is equally unavoidable in hospitals as it is in surgeries, in order to prevent transmission of infectious germs.
Together with obligatory handwashing, disinfecting hands counts among the basic hygiene practices for all medical disciplines. However, there is still a difference between disinfecting to meet typical hygiene and surgical hygiene standards.
Hand Sanitizers for Surgical & Hygienic Purposes
Surgical hand disinfection is always carried out if there is a particularly high sterility requirement, e.g. during invasive operations. Hygienically disinfecting the hands is a practice that is carried out multiple times per day, e.g. before and after patient contact, when coming into contact with potentially infectious substances, as well as in many other scenarios.
Typically, less hand sanitiser is needed for hygiene purposes as for surgical purposes, and the activation time is shorter. For both purposes, however, the proper application technique and the proper choice of hand sanitiser is of essence. The medical professional, for example makes use of special skin sanitisers for effective germ reduction on wider areas of the skin and body.
Bactericidal, Virucidal and Fungicidal Hand Sanitisers
Gels for hand disinfection have biocidal effects and reduce germs on the treated areas of the skin. Depending on their active ingredients, modern hand sanitisers may have bactericidal, virucidal and fungicidal effects.
As a result, disinfectants are chosen depending on their intended and desired effect against certain germs. A virucidal disinfectant like Desderman or Aseptoman, for example should be used if there is an increased risk of viral infection.
Hand Sanitisers for MRSA and other Multi-Resistant Pathogens
Nosocomial infections are caused by multidrug resistant pathogens (MDR) like MRSA. MDRs are not more aggressive than antibiotic sensitive bacteria, but they are harder to treat in case of bacterial infection. Particularly immunocompromised patients, patients in intensive care and newborns are vulnerable to infections caused by antibiotic resistant bacteria.
To successfully break the chain of infection, alcohol-based products are strongly recommended, because MRSA are sensitive to alcohol-based hand sanitisers and disinfectants, even if they are resistant to antibiotics. Alcohol causes an unspecific precipitation of the proteins inside the bacteria and thus leads to the microorganism's death.
To make sure that all bacteria have been killed, it is important to adhere to the recommended activation time. Generally, this takes about 30 seconds. The hands have to be kept wet during the action time, to guarantee the desired effect. If the hygienic disinfection is correctly performed with alcohol-based hand sanitiser, it inactivates 99.9% of all bacteria, including MRSA and MRE.
