Couch rolls are used on exam tables and couches to provide hygienic protection. Also known as exam table paper, hygiene rolls are commonly composed of glued tissue or cellulose that is highly absorbent and tear-resistant. The couch paper rolls not only serve as mechanical protection, they also provide patient comfort, particularly if the patient is unclothed.

Furthermore, the pads serve to avoid or at least reduce contamination. For this purpose, the paper couch rolls are available with a water-proof polyethylene coating on the underside. While cleaning and wiping down the bed with a disinfectant is a great way to maintain hygiene, a disposable paper roll adds another layer of protection and absorbency.

Consumables, like hygiene rolls, are disposed of after a single use to reduce the risk of infectious transmission. As a result, the treatment table does not have to be disinfected as often, which saves resources while protecting synthetic leather covers from premature wear.

Couch rolls are often perforated at regular distances, which makes it easier to individually tear off a single sheet by hand. As a result, there is no need to cut the paper before calling in the next patient, the used part is simply torn off.

Such easy-tear paper rolls are mounted onto the head or foot of an exam table and can quickly be pulled over the reclining area. Underlays - Practical and Versatile

Underlays are made of multiple layers and are available in different sizes. The most popular medical underlays have a size of 60 x 90 cm. Generally, they are equipped with a highly absorbent core of cellulose fluff. A liquid-repellant foil layer on the underside prevents seepage of blood, urine and other liquids, as well as penetration of any liquids on the surface beneath. Additionally, they are equipped with a surface made of soft, skin-friendly non-woven material that prevents skin irritations.

Medical underlays can be used for a variety of purposes. They are not only suitable for dressing changes and wound irrigation, but they are also excellent as nappy changing mats or as underlays for patients suffering from incontinence. Incontinence pads can be used in hospitals as well as in the care sector (e.g. in home care) to protect the mattress and bed sheets from urine seepage.
