Disposable Cannulas for Various Medical Applications

The versatile Disposable Sterican cannulas from B. Braun are latex free, individually sterile packed and especially popular. These thin-walled cannulae can be used for intramuscular, intravenous or subcutaneous injections and allow for low-pain puncture due to the long, bevelled cut, the extremely smooth surface and the finely dosed silicone coating. The needle tube is made of stainless chrome-nickel steel and an integrated Luer lock connector allows easy connection to the syringe. It is available in a large variety of gauges and sizes.

However, Sterican cannulas are also available for very specific indications, such as the Sterican cannula Heparin/Tuberculin. This thin-walled cannula comes with a 3-phase facet cut and is optimised in size and gauge for use for heparin or tuberculin injection. The Sterican® insulin needle is also commonly used and is available in different sizes depending on requirements. All Sterican® cannulas are colour-coded according to ISO 6009.

The Micro-cannulae from Sarstedt is especially recommended for drawing blood from newborns and premature babies. These hypodermic needles include an exposed outlet opening for easy and unhindered dripping of blood into micro-sample vessels. In addition, the 360° rotatability facilitates puncture even in difficult vein conditions.

The Spackmann cannula is recommended for uterine manipulation. Its anatomical cervical cone ensures a secure seal.

Disposable Needles for Protection Against Needlestick Injuries

The Braun Sterican Safety cannula is particularly safe to use. It is equipped with a protective mechanism made of plastic which can be activated with one hand and which encloses the cannula visibly, audibly and tangibly once it has been properly activated. In addition, the cannula is compatible with Luer-Lock and Luer-Plug syringes due to its Luer connector.
