MacConkey Agar

MacConkey Agar is a selective and differential medium used for the detection, isolation and enumeration of Salmonella and coliform bacteria. The ready-to-use culture medium is incubated for 24 hours at 35 °C and can then be evaluated.

• Lactose-positive bacteria show up as red colonies
• Colour: violet-pink
• pH: 7.1 ± 0.2 at 25 ºC
• Incubation: 24 hours at 35 °C
• Storage at 2 - 14 °C
• 20 ready-to-use plates

Please Note: the culture media have a limited shelf life of approx. 2 months.

Composition:

• Peptone from gelatine 17.0g/l
• Peptone from casein and meat 3.0g/l
• Lactose 10.0g/l
• Bile salts 1.5g/l
• Sodium chloride 5.0g/l
• Crystal violet 0.001g/l
• Neutral red 0.03g/l
• Agar 15.0g/l
