Alcohol Wipes
Alcohol Swabs for Disinfection of Small Puncture Sites
Alcohol swabs are excellent for disinfecting and cleaning small areas of skin prior to injections, punctures and blood sampling. Soaked swabs can also be used when wound dressings need to be changed.
The swabs and pads are impregnated with 70 % isopropanol and consist of abrasion-resistant, lint-free fleece. This is particularly important to ensure a lint-free skin area for the injection. Skin disinfection and cleansing with isopropyl alcohol swabs is particularly quick and effective - one wipe is usually sufficient. After waiting until the exposure time has passed, the injection can be performed as usual.
Use & Application Areas of Alcoholic Swabs
From a medical point of view, injections, punctures and blood sampling are invasive procedures, so it is particularly important to carefully disinfect the affected skin area beforehand. This is an essential hygienic measure.
The sterile swabs are simply removed from the pack or dispenser, then wiped over the affected area to clean the patient's skin and the procedure is performed after the exposure time has elapsed.
Correctly performed skin disinfection protects the patient from possible spread of microorganisms on the skin. Possible areas of application are, for example, venous blood sampling, disinfection before obtaining blood from the fingertip - for instance to determine the blood sugar level - or cleaning the skin before injecting heparin or insulin. Sterile alcohol swabs can also be used prior to vaccinations or other intramuscular injections.
Alcohol Swabs and Pads in Individual Pack or Dispenser
Alcohol swabs are usually individually packaged, but sealable dispensers are also available from which the swabs can be removed individually. The separately packaged alcohol swabs are easy to open and are ideal for stocking home visit and emergency kits. In our online shop you will find a variety of antibacterial disinfectants for skin and surface to kill bacteria and germs, alcohol wipes, hand wipes free of alcohol, single-use needles, sterile disposable syringes and absorbent material such as compresses.
