Kidney Dishes
Kidney Dishes for Surgery & Hospital
Kidney dishes are used daily in medicine. It is a practical tool that is very well suited for setting out products for treatments and wound care, discarding used dressings or collecting liquids.
Especially autoclavable kidney dishes made of metal are perfectly suitable as instrument trays in the operating theatre or in the treatment room and can be equipped with all instruments necessary for the operation or treatment. In the operating theatre, removed tissue parts are also often placed in stainless steel kidney dishes before they are disposed of according to regulations after surgery.
In the surgery, kidney dishes are often prepared to hold everything the doctor needs, for example, for an injection or for dressing a wound. After treatment, consumables that are no longer needed can be collected in the kidney tray before being disposed of.
Stainless steel kidney dishes and plastic kidney dishes can also be used for wound irrigation and ear irrigation to collect irrigation fluid. Due to the kidney shape, the tray easily adapts to conical parts of the body so that it can be stopped below the ear during ear irrigation for instance, so that the patient does not get wet during irrigation.
Kidney dishes are also used in the laboratory - there, for example, they are used to provide blood collection tubes and other accessories for blood collection.
In the emergency room, cardboard kidney dishes are a great alternative to classic emesis bags and can be used to collect vomit in case of sickness and emesis.
Kidney Dishes Made of Various Materials
Depending on the intended use, dishes are available in a variety of materials. The disposable kidney-shaped dish made of cellulose or cardboard is non-sterile and is disposed of immediately after use. It offers a high level of hygiene because germ transmission cannot occur due to inadequate cleaning and disinfection. Metal kidney dishes, on the other hand, can be easily cleaned and sterilised after use and are usually autoclavable. They are therefore also suitable for more hygienically demanding tasks and for use in the operating theatre.
Matching lids are available for selected stainless steel kidney dishes. In addition, there is also the reusable plastic kidney dish, which is resistant to disinfectants but cannot always be autoclaved. These kidney dishes should not touch potentially infectious materials but are very suitable for providing medical consumables.
