Lancets for Capillary Blood Sampling
Lancets are small needles encapsulated in plastic and used with a lancing device to prick a small hole in the skin in order to draw blood. A lancet usually consists of a moulded piece of plastic with a round cap, under which there is a needle. The needle is exposed by removing the cap. They are used for the simple and nearly painless collection of smaller amounts of blood, e.g., for rapid tests or finger-prick testing for blood glucose measurement in combination with a blood sugar meter in patients with diabetes. In order to minimize cross-contamination and infectious transmissions our lancets are strictly individually sterile wrapped and are solely designed for one-time use.
Lancets with Fixed or Variable Puncture Depth
Depending on style and manufacturer, lancets have either a fixed or variable puncture depth. For example, the Accu-Chek Safe T Pro disposable lancets are available in two variants, with a fixed puncture depth of 1.5 mm or with an adjustable puncture depth of 1.3 to 2.3 mm. These lancets ease the blood drawing process of diabetic patients through simple operation and the skin-friendly tip.
Lancets for Every Need
In this category, you will find allergy tests lancets with a particularly fine tip of only 0.9 mm. This makes them suitable not only for drawing blood from children or the earlobe, but also for scratching the skin during skin prick tests.
Lancets can also be used in dermatology and cosmetics. Here sterile lancing devices can be used, for example, to open up acne efflorescences. They have also proven suitable in radiation diagnostics where, for example, they can be used as a practical marker for a puncture site.
Safety Lancets to Protect against Needlestick Injuries
For safe capillary blood collection with blood lancets, the Solofix safety lancets from B. Braun Petzold are particularly suitable. The safety lancets prevent needlestick injuries thanks to their automatic safety mechanism which ensures that the needle of the safety lancets is safely enclosed inside the housing before and after puncture.
