LineGene MINI S - Fast & Reliable Real-Time PCR

Based on the principle of fluorescent polymerase chain reaction, the LineGene MINI S real-time PCR analyser from BIOER is designed for the qualitative and quantitative detection of analytes in human nucleic acid samples. Thanks to 4 detection channels, advanced scanning technology with excellent SNR and an automatic gain function, the innovative device ensures reliable results while achieving the same level of performance as full-scale PCR testing devices.

The LineGene MINI S analyser has a compact and lightweight design and is particularly robust. It is equipped with a large touch screen and offers simple operation thanks to the intuitive menu navigation. It has a capacity for up to 16 0.2 ml PCR tubes. The hot lid ensures that samples are kept at a constant temperature during testing, regardless of their position in the device. To ensure that the test run is carried out correctly and without contamination of the patient samples, a positive and a negative control are also applied during sample preparation. This means that up to 14 patient samples can be analysed simultaneously.

If required, the test run in progress can be visualised and followed on the touch screen. After completion of the test run, the analyser automatically generates a comprehensive report that can be forwarded or printed out if required. Via an RS232 interface, current firmware updates can be uploaded quickly and easily via an external computer. This ensures that the test system is always up to date.

Test Principle

Each LineGene test kit contains all the reagents required for PCR, such as the DNA polymerase or the specific primers and probes, in ready-to-use form. This not only minimises the number of pipetting steps, but also reduces the potential for errors. These ready-made reagents are added to the DNA/RNA of the patient sample.

After the correct placement of the sample vials with 0.2 ml capacity in the test device, the test run can be started and runs automatically. The hot lid ensures that all sample tubes maintain an even temperature, regardless of their position. First, the polymerase chain reaction is used to amplify the relevant characteristic segments of the DNA. Two primers determine the areas of the DNA strands that are to be reproduced. If the DNA segmemt contains the appropriate target sequence, the primers can bind to it and produce a copy. This process is repeated several times so that the product multiplies exponentially.

For the evaluation of the sample in the LineGene MINI S fluorescence is also of great importance. During each cycle, in addition to the primers, fluorescently labelled DNA probes also bind to the target sequence, which only generate a fluorescent signal when the DNA has been amplified. The intensity of the signal is measured at the end of the cycle. If the corresponding pathogen cannot be detected in the sample, the fluorescence signal remains absent. However, if the sample tests positive for the pathogen, an increase in the fluorescence signal can be detected. With the help of the intensity, the viral load can be measured and transmitted.
