Test Tubes in the Laboratory

Test tubes are a common piece of glassware in medical as well as industrial laboratories. They have a cylindrical shape, are usually made of glass and are available in different glass wall thickness: thin walls, medium walls or thick walls. Due to their resistance to chemicals and pharmaceuticals, the tubes are ideal for safely mixing and storing liquids in laboratories. Since most tubes are heat-resistant, they can be easily heated.

The tubes in our shop are made of glass and are available in different volumes and diameters, depending on requirements, and are usually offered in packs of 100 or more.

Test Tubes made of Borosilicate Glass

The Teqler Test Tubes without rim are made of durable borosilicate glass 3.3, which is very heat resistant. Therefore, the rimless glass test tubes can be heated over the flame of a Bunsen burner without any problems. 

Borosilicate glass is harder, stronger and more durable than conventional soda-lime glass, which is also often used to make glass test tubes. Borosilicate glass can withstand particularly high temperatures and can be autoclaved for reprocessing.

The rimless test tubes may be purchased in a range of sizes (12 mm x 75 mm / 15 mm x 100 mm / 16 mm x 150 mm) with either 8 ml, 17 ml or 29 ml filling volume, in packs of 100 pieces. The tubes which are made of glass are ideal for laboratory examinations of e.g. blood samples or for the preparation of urine sediment.

Beaded Rim for a Secure Hold

Glass test tubes may be purchased with or without a rim.

For a secure upright hold in the test tube rack and safe heating over a flame, we recommend Teqler Test Tubes with Rim and round bottom. The rim prevents the glass test tubes from slipping out of the test tube rack and thus enables safe handling of chemicals.

Due to the robust borosilicate glass, the tubes have a high heat resistance and are ideal for common laboratory tests as well as for mixing chemical liquids. The transparent glass test tubes with rim are available in different sizes (12 x 75 mm / 15 x 100 mm / 16 x 150 mm) with either 8 ml, 17 ml or 29 ml filling volume, in packs of 100 pieces. 

Test tubes with a round bottom are usually used in laboratories. Thanks to the rounded shape, liquids and samples can be pipetted smoothly and accurately, e.g. with a piston pipette. Since a test tube with a round bottom cannot stand on its own, a test tube stand is required.
