Safety shoes are an item of workwear that have to withstand extreme conditions during hectic and challenging emergency operations. Specially designed safety boots protect emergency personnel from chemical, mechanical, electrical and thermal injuries. Safety shoes are an essential piece of PPE for paramedics, emergency doctors and firefighters.
HAIX is one of the most renowned companies in the field of safety footwear - the company has a 70-year history, constantly developing its safety boots and shoes and adapting them to the changing requirements of the industry. At Haix safety and comfort go hand in hand, to ensure optimal work conditions for the wearer. Today, HAIX safety boots are among the best-selling safety footwear in the EMS, fire brigade and rescue services sector.
Requirements for HAIX Safety Footwear
Emergency operations never take place under optimal conditions. Safety footwear is designed to provide complete protection, ideal support and high wearing comfort, regardless of weather conditions, humidity, heat and cold.
DIN EN 20345 regulates the requirements for a safety shoe and is divided into different safety classes. EN 20345 SB sets out the basic requirements that a work shoe must meet in order to be considered a safety shoe. It specifies that there must be toe protection and sets a standard of 200-joules impact-resistance.
In order to comply with safety class S3, safety shoes must fulfil more stringent requirements. In addition to a protective toe cap and an oil- and petrol-resistant sole, the safety boots must ensure adequate protection in damp environments. The upper material of the footwear must be water-repellent and it must have a puncture-resistant sole. S3 safety shoes require the heel area to be closed.

The HAIX Airpower XR1 is one of the most popular safety boots from HAIX and corresponds to safety class S3. The outer material of the high black boot is made of waterproof leather and it is equipped with a patented lace-zipper system. With the practical combination of zip and lacing you only have to adjust the safety boots to your foot once, and they can then be put on and taken off quickly and easily with the zip. The inner lining of the boots is made of Gore-Tex CROSSTECH® membrane and is waterproof and breathable. With a lightweight and sturdy toe cap for toe protection, metal-free puncture resistant midsole and a heat-resistant sole, the safety boots ensure comprehensive protection.
The black leather Airpower XR91 boots also meet the requirements of safety class S3 and are specially designed for firefighters. The non-slip boot is flame-resistant and has a steel puncture plate for puncture protection. This way, the boots prevent burns and injuries caused by piercing sharp objects. The inner lining of the safety boots is made of Gore-Tex CROSSTECH® membrane and is waterproof and breathable.
One of the favourites among the ankle-high boots is the Haix Nevada - Series. The smooth black leather safety boots with Velcro system can be purchased in models for men or women. The boots are easy to put on and take off, wherever you are. The footwear leaves no dark streaks on light-coloured floors and special pigments in the upper material reflect UV rays and prevent heat build-up in the shoe. In addition to a sturdy protective toe cap, the boot has an antistatic and anti-slip sole to ensure safety.
