Sterilizers for Autoclaving Medical Products

The autoclave, also known as a steam sterilizer, is a pressure vessel that can be closed gas-tight and in which sterile items are sterilized with the help of saturated steam. Steam sterilization takes place at temperatures between 120 °C and 143 °C and a pressure between 1 and 3 bar. As steam sterilizers work at a lower temperature than hot air sterilizers, this type of sterilization can also be used for more temperature-sensitive materials, such as textiles.

Especially in surgeries, hospitals, laboratories or other medical facilities, autoclaves are used for the sterilization of e.g. medical instruments, surgical linen or swabs. In this category you will find a large selection of devices for class B and S steam sterilization.

Class B and Class S Sterilizers

Class B autoclaves are frequently used in laboratories and surgeries. These class B sterilizers are suitable for the safe sterilization of porous materials, culture media, wrapped and unwrapped equipment as well as hollow-bodied instruments. Since the fractionated vacuum process greatly minimises the air content in the autoclave, even narrow-bodied hollow instruments can be safely sterilized.

For this purpose, we offer the Melag Vacuklav 31 B+ in our online shop. With a chamber volume of 17.6 litres and a holder for 5 trays, the Vacuklav offers sufficient space for sterilization. The autoclave has 5 sterilization programmes, including a quick programme that allows unwrapped equipment to be sterilized quickly and safely within 15 minutes. The Vacuklav also provides particularly reliable sterilization of narrow-bodied hollow instruments.

If, in addition to wrapped and unwrapped instruments, only simple hollow-body instruments such as scissors or clamps are sterilized, an S-class autoclave is sufficient. They operate with the fractional flow method or with a simple pre-vacuum. If an S-class autoclave sterilizer is sufficient, we recommend the Euroklav Class S autoclave from Melag. This device features 4 programmes with pre- and post-vacuum as well as a 20-minute quick programme so that sterilized instruments are quickly ready for use again. In total, the Melag autoclave provides space for 5 trays and is optionally available with an 18-litre or a 22-litre chamber.

The cleaning spray and the cleaning cloths remove even invisible dirt and prevent stubborn discolouration and deposits.
