Biopsy Curettes & Punches
Dermatological Skin Curettes
Biopsy punches and curettes are instruments that are used daily in medical dermatology for removing skin samples, for the diagnosis of various skin conditions. As a rule, these are sterile single-use instruments, as disposable biopsy punches and curettes considerably reduce the risk of cross contamination and transmission of infections. Skin samples are sent to a laboratory for testing. Results can take several days or longer, depending on the type of biopsy and the lab's procedures.
Sterile Biopsy Punches for Taking Samples
Biopsy punches are used for punch biopsies. They enable precise, gentle skin sampling when performing a skin biopsy. The sharply grinded edge provides exact tissue extraction and leaves a wound with uniform edges, which is much easier to treat. It is normal for there to be bleeding at the biopsy site for a day or two after a skin biopsy.
The Biopsy Punches from Stiefel Laboratorium are suitable for performing a punch biopsy. These individually sterile-packed skin punches are available in different sizes and enable a particularly precise and gentle skin biopsy. For punch biopsies of larger skin samples, the Faroderm® Biopsy Punches are particularly recommended, as their elliptical shape allows easy suture care of the wound. The punches come in packs of 10 pieces and each skin punch is individually sterile packed.
Curettes for Removing Tissue Alterations
Removing warts, benign neoplasms or superficial skin lesions is often done using a ring curette. These sharp, grinded and ring-shaped instruments provide precise, yet gentle curettage without damaging the surrounding healthy skin.
In our online shop, we stock Skin Curettes from Faroderm with an extremely sharp cutting edge on one side for removing warts. The ring curette enables optimal curettage even with soft, weak tissue and is ideal for removing or curettage of skin lesions. The sterile instrument is also used in plastic surgery or gynaecology and is supplied in a pack of 10 individually sterile-packed curettes.
