Prophylaxis and Treatment of Calf Diarrhoea

Diarrhoea in newborn calves is known as one of the most common and costly diseases in young calves. The acute disorder usually occurs during the first two or three weeks of their life and affects whole groups. During treatment, it is important to cover the nutritional and energy requirements, and to replace lost fluids, electrolytes and buffer substances.

Breeding and Strenghtening the Immune System

Occasionally, the immunoglobulins taken via the colostrum are not enough to protect the calf from diseases. As a result, we offer Probicol-K for calves, to stabilise the intestinal flora and support the immune system in bred animals. Especially weak and underweight animals are supported by the important ingredients, which supply them with energy and support cell development. As a precaution, the calves can be given one injector Probicol-K right after birth.

Ferrovital-K iron paste also has a strengthening effect and promotes blood formation, which prevents iron deficiency anaemia. The nutritional supplement is easy to dose and feed, thanks to its practical injector with scale.

Milk-Fever Prophylaxis

If the blood calcium level drops sharply in older or high-performing cows, post parturient hypocalcemia, also known as milk-fever can occur. It is generally caused by an excessive calcium intake before calving.

For the calcium-phosphor balance, we recommend Calz-o-Phos Premium, which can be fed with a bottle or mixed into the cow’s feed. Thanks to the absence of caustic calcium chloride, it is even gentle on the mucous membranes.
