g-Pet Plus Animal Glucometer

The g-Pet Plus is a glucometer, that is specially designed for measuring blood glucose levels in animals (dogs, cats and horses, in particular). Because only a small sample volume is required for testing, the process is especially gentle for the animal. The g-Pet Plus delivers precise results in mmol/L or mg/dL.
The animal glucometer can be easily be coded for use with all animal species for which code strips exist and provides great user convenience, thanks to the large LCD display, test strip ejection and the automatic on-/off switch.

Advantages of the g-Pet Plus Glucometer

Due to the differing properties of the red blood cells in humans and animals, measuring glucose levels in animals with human devices can lead to extreme discrepancies in results. The g-Pet Plus is specially calibrated for use in veterinary medicine, specifically for dogs, cats and horses. Each g-Pet Plus device includes all important calibration information, to allow for precise results for various species.

Frequently Asked Questions
With which measurement unit should I order my g-Pet Plus glucometer?

The g-Pet Plus glucometer is optionally available with measurement units displayed in mmol/L or mg/dL. The most typical unit used in the UK is mmol/L. The most typical unit used in continental Europe is mg/dL. If you are unsure, it is best to consult your veterinarian.

How can I code my g-Pet Plus glucometer for measurements with cats?

When you insert the coding strip, the device will display the animal type selection mode. With the help of the arrow up and arrow down buttons, you can now choose the cat symbol. Press the M button to confirm your selection.

What does it mean if my glucometer displays HI instead of the results?

This message is always displayed if the measurement results are outside of the g-Pet Plus measurement range i.e the blood sugar count is above 600 mg/dL or 33.3 mmol/L.

How much time do I have to place blood on the test strip after it has been inserted?

You must place the blood sample on the test strip within 2 minutes after insertion. Otherwise, the g-Pet Plus glucometer will automatically switch off.

Where can I best draw blood for the measurement?

Since capillary blood is enough for the measurement, only small veins need to be punctured. A suitable, easy to reach and often used point is the ear.
