Surgicryl Monofilament is an absorbable, synthetic suture with high tear-resistance. Surgicryl has high tensile strength and causes low tissue reaction; it is popular due to its excellent knotting properties.
Surgicryl is obtained synthetically. This is what provides the monofilament with its constant and even thread diameter, which is not possible with natural sutures. Even the very low tissue reaction is due to the synthetic manufacture. It is much lower than when using natural sutures.
Monofilament made from polydioxanone
Durable tensile strength (50% after 42 days)
Holds the wound for a long period (absorption within 180 - 210 days)
Decomposition through hydrolysis
Minimal tissue reaction
Length: 15 m
Advantages of Surgicryl Monofilament polydioxanone
Low tissue reaction
High and durable tensile strength
Microscopically regular thread diameter with no sawing effect
Regular, trauma-reducing tissue drag
No capillary effect
Excellent knotting properties
Economical use, can be shortened to size
Easy to use
Applications of Surgicryl Monofilament
General and visceral surgery
Abdominal wall closure
Surgicryl is available as an economical spool material in various lengths and with different thread diameters.
