Stable disinfectants for preventing germ infestation
Stable disinfection is one of the most important hygiene measures taken in livestock farming, at horse ranches and for animal cages and chicken coops. If this is not done, then germs and parasites will build up and potentially damage the health of the animals or slow their development.
Spectrum of efficacy, activation mechanism and application method of stable disinfectants
We offer you high-quality, economical products for cleaning and disinfecting stables, as well as those that combine both functions in one.
Stable disinfectants differ in their spectrum of efficacy, activation mechanism and method of application.
The spectrum of efficacy extends from specifically effective substances to widely effective disinfectants like Interkokask that not only fight bacteria and viruses, but are also effective against mites and parasite eggs.
Depending on the activation mechanism, disinfectants can be applied in occupied or in unoccupied stables. The method of application varies between concentrates and ready-made solutions e.g. a spray like the Inter Ex Spray.
Regular disinfection
To create a hygienic environment in the box or stable of an animal, it should be disinfected regularly. One opportunity to disinfect stables presents itself, if the horses are put on the pasture over the summer and the stable remains empty for months.
During that time, the stable can be cleaned with a high-pressure cleaner before being disinfected with the appropriate disinfectants. Troughs for horses should only be treated with suitable preparations, as they could come into contact with the animal’s feed and water.
For a long-lasting disinfectant effect, the stable should be kept clean and faeces and urine should be removed thoroughly when mucking out. For example with the LUCAA+ Probiotic Cleaner for Trough Systems.
Correctly disinfect chicken coops
Chicken coops are particularly vulnerable to ectoparasites. Mites like the dermanyssus gallinae, which feeds on the blood of chickens, are particularly common.
They leads to an extreme health impairment and possibly even to the death of the chicken. During the day, the parasite retreats to the corners and cavities of the coop to come out at night to feed on the animal.
To prevent the mites from infesting the chickens without burdening their health with chemical substances, preparations with diatomaceous earth are particularly suitable.
They fight the mites and prevent the formation of resistances. Whether or not the chickens can remain in the chicken coop during disinfection depends on the preparation. The Intercid stable disinfectant concentrate is also suitable in occupied stables when used properly and is therefore popular with farmers with livestock, livestock breeders as well as veterinarians.
