Blood Collection Systems
Veterinary blood collection systems
Blood drawing is a daily practice in the life of a veterinarian. Blood is always collected when the cause or progress of a disease needs to be clarified through specific blood values. Depending on the size of the animal, different blood collection systems come into use. Some blood collection tubes from human medicine can be used, but there are also blood collection tubes that have been developed specifically for animals.
The Multivette blood collection system
The Microvette 200 capillary blood collection system from Sarstedt for capillary blood samples is an ideal solution when the capillary blood is to be transferred for further use.
The Microvette 200 is a classic end-to-end capillary that is already attached to the graduated collection container, facilitating the collection of the exact amount of 200 µl capillary blood.
Each Microvette 200 indicates by colour coding what it has been prepared with and is also equipped with physical mixing aids to ensure uniform mixing of the blood sample with the reagent.
S-Monovettes with gel from Sarstedt are provided with a coagulation activator. After centrifugation, the monovette prepared with gel forms an impermeable separating layer between serum and blood cake. The S-monovette is particularly suitable for use as a primary vessel.
The Microvette Blood Collection System
The Microvette blood collection system is available with various specifications. In addition to the Microvettes with a collection rim, there are also Microvettes with a pre-mounted end-to-end capillary.
These blood collection systems are also available with different preparations and can be utilised depending on the required blood values.
While the Multivette and Microvette blood collection systems are more suited for use in small animal medicine, traditional S-Monovettes are applied in large animal medicine, as they are designed for large blood samples.
For example, the S-Monovette BSG from the manufacturer Sarstedt. It is used to perform blood sedimentation and is prepared with citrate in a ratio of 1:5.
