Instrument sterilisation kills or removes pathogenic and apathogenic microorganisms and is therefore more effective and comprehensive than disinfection. In an autoclave, sterilisation is achieved by means of steam under excess pressure, so that even heat-sensitive rubber and plastic objects, as well as textiles, can be sterilised without any problems.
