"We need to solve the climate crisis. It's not a political issue; it's a moral issue. We have everything we need to get started, with the possible exception of the will to act. "
The New Praxisdienst Eco-Label
Criteria for the Praxisdienst Eco-Label
For a product in our online shop to be labelled with the Praxisdienst Eco-Label, it must meet at least one of these requirements:
- Made from recycled or renewable raw materials
- Either 100% biodegradable or compostable
- Environmentally friendly manufacturing
- The manufacturer's packaging is plastic-free
Shifting towards Environmental Sustainability
At Praxisdienst we have already made a lot of internal changes to reduce our ecological footprint. We would now like to offer our customers the opportunity to contribute to climate protection by purchasing sustainable products.
From now on sustainable products that meet the above criteria will receive our Praxisdienst Eco-Label. The sustainable products available in our online shop are immediately recognisable as such, and stand out clearly in the category overview. Environmentally conscious customers can use the label to easily find eco-friendly products in our range.
The Journey to Sustainability
As a socially responsible company, we have made it our mission to keep our ecological footprint as small as possible.
It is precisely for this reason that we started to retool our own structures and make them more sustainable quite some years ago.
As a first step, we converted to renewable energy. The photovoltaic system on the roof of our new logistics centre already produces enough electricity to power our entire logistics infrastructure. In addition, we have a new, state-of-the-art wind turbine on the roof of our office premises, which is currently in test operation. If this proves to be effective, we will further expand our use of both solar power and wind turbines in the future. Our goal is to one day be able to cover our energy needs exclusively with renewable energy.
The second step was to equip our logistics centre and offices with energy-saving LED lighting. LED lights are not only particularly durable, but also consume less energy than conventional lighting. As a result, we have managed to reduce energy consumption by about 40 %.
Thirdly, we purchased machines that accurately measure our goods and are able to create individual boxes. This not only avoids the generation of unnecessary waste, but has also allowed us to reduce our parcel volume by 40%. In this way we have been able to both minimise freight volume and the number of journeys needed to deliver goods.
One of our latest projects is to convert our vehicle fleet. Our diesel vehicles are being replaced with climate-friendly electric vehicles. Our goal is to operate an all-electric fleet in the long term. This is not only more efficient, but offers us another chance to improve our eco-balance, and bring us a step further on our journey to a sustainable future.
We are still very much at the beginning of our quest to reduce our ecological footprint. We continue to work ambitiously on improving and expanding our concept for more sustainability. We are aware that we still have some way to go before we reach our goal. However, we are already making good use of the possibilities available to us today. We don't have time to waste.
