Social Responsibility
Sustainability: The Pathway to Long-Term Success
At Praxisdienst, we pride ourselves on being an independently owned and managed company, fully committed to our responsibilities towards our customers, employees, business partners, and society at large. Our commitment to sustainability and environmental awareness is unwavering, and it is at the forefront of every business decision we make. By prioritising these values, we aim to secure the ongoing success of our 65-year legacy well into the future.
Environment
As our company grows and expands its global reach, we are keenly aware of our increasing responsibility to protect the environment. Keep reading to learn more about our specific actions to conserve resources and minimise our environmental footprint.
Generating Power with Photovoltaic Technology
As our business has grown, we've had to expand our storage capacities multiple times in recent years. From the outset, we've prioritised energy efficiency and environmentally friendly solutions in our planning. In our latest expansion, we installed a photovoltaic system on the new roof area to generate solar power. Under optimal conditions, this system can provide enough energy to power our entire logistics infrastructure. We're already planning for future expansion of the system and aim to eventually meet all of our electricity needs with renewable energy technology.
Wind Turbine Test Project
We've installed a cutting-edge wind turbine on the roof of our recently expanded office building. This is currently a test project to determine its viability for daily use. The objective is clear: if the turbine proves to be effective in its location, we'll have the green light to utilise it on a more extensive scale.
LED Lighting
Whenever feasible and practical, we opt for LED technology to illuminate our facilities. Our recently constructed logistics building is a prime example, as it is entirely outfitted with LED lighting. The benefits are clear: in addition to substantial energy savings of around 40%, LED fixtures offer significantly longer lifespans. This dual benefit has a positive impact on the environment. Additionally, LED lighting produces minimal heat, reducing the risk of fire.
Waste Prevention
Online retailers are frequently accused of producing excessive packaging waste. However, we are bucking this trend and are actively committed to waste reduction. When storing pallets, we minimise the use of stretch film, which is commonly overused in the logistics industry. For the unavoidable selection of filling materials, we weigh the ecological impact of using voluminous paper materials, which contribute to excess paper waste, against the use of air-filled plastic film, which can be easily shredded at the recipient's end and disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner.
Reducing CO2 Emissions
As a company that moves substantial volumes and purchases goods mainly in large quantities, we receive deliveries primarily in the form of full containers. This approach results in a sharp reduction in small quantity deliveries, fewer trips, and a smaller environmental impact.
We exclusively work with environmentally conscious postal companies to minimise our carbon footprint. For instance, we are part of the CO2-neutral GoGreen programme offered by Deutsche Post/DHL (www.dhl.de) for delivering our print media. Additionally, our numerous product packages are delivered to our customers through the CO2-neutral parcel and express service provider, dpd (www.dpd.de).
Electric Vehicle Fleet
We have initiated the transition of our vehicle fleet to eco-friendly electric vehicles. Gradually, these innovative e-vehicles will supplement our fleet and replace our already highly efficient diesel vehicles. Our ultimate objective is to equip the entire fleet with electric vehicles in the medium term.
Employee Satisfaction
We recognise that a company's success heavily relies on its employees, and their satisfaction is crucial for optimal performance. Therefore, we prioritise fair employment practices that align with our values. Despite our dynamic growth, we avoid hiring temporary workers or using employees in marginal employment relationships. All of our employees at Praxisdienst earn salaries well above the minimum wage in Germany.
At Praxisdienst, we value and welcome colleagues from diverse backgrounds and experiences, regardless of age, ethnicity, or language. Our inclusive and diverse team is what distinguishes us and enables us to be innovative, agile, and receptive to fresh concepts.
We firmly believe in treating all of our employees with fairness and equality, and we firmly oppose any form of discrimination based on gender, religion, ideology, or sexual orientation.
Suppliers
Our commitment to upholding high social standards along the entire supply chain is steadfast, despite the ever-increasing competition and market concentration in the medical products sector. At Praxisdienst, we prioritise working with reputable manufacturers and personally verify fair working conditions for all employees at their factories, rather than relying on superficial assessments from administrative bodies. We firmly believe that our responsibility to society and our employees extends way beyond profit margins and cost savings.
We take great care in tracing the origin of our goods, enabling us to ensure that the supply chain adheres to high social standards and that minimum wages are respected at the local level. We can affirm with confidence that we do not condone the use of child labor in any of our factories.
The reputation of European engineering in the field of medical technology is highly esteemed. At Praxisdienst, we take pride in being chosen as a distribution partner by numerous European manufacturers. Our top priority is fairness and respect towards our suppliers. We collaborate not only with well-established industry leaders but also with young and innovative companies, ensuring that our product range is quality-conscious and forward-thinking.
