Latex Gloves

In general, latex gloves are available as powdered or powder-free. Powdered gloves make them easier to put on with wet or sweaty hands, but the powder can increase the risk of allergic reactions to latex proteins. To reduce the risk of latex allergies, gloves with a protein content below 30 µg/g are recommended. Nitrile Gloves

Nitrile examination gloves are similarly tear-resistant and durable as latex gloves, but they offer slightly less stretch. The tactile sensitivity and wearing comfort are comparable to latex gloves. Since nitrile gloves are latex-free, they are an ideal alternative for users or patients with a latex allergy. Many nitrile gloves also feature micro-textured fingertips, providing a very secure grip. Medical Disposable Gloves from Vinyl, PE, and Copolymers

Less common than latex or nitrile gloves are disposable gloves made from other materials such as vinyl, PE, or copolymers. These gloves are generally transparent and have little to no elasticity. They are commonly used for short-term tasks or procedures that do not require high durability or stretch.

Vinyl gloves are made from PVC combined with plasticizers to achieve flexibility, providing comfortable wear. However, their elasticity is significantly lower than that of medical disposable gloves made from latex or nitrile. Vinyl gloves are mainly used for short-term tasks that do not involve high mechanical stress.

PE gloves are made from durable polyethylene. They are very stable, resistant, and suitable for short-term, general-purpose applications. The material is film-like, and the gloves are available in one size fits all. Due to their low cost, these PE examination gloves offer an economical alternative to other disposable gloves.

Copolymer gloves are made from a soft, sensitive film, usually coated on paper for easier donning and removal. The film is PVC- and latex-free, making it suitable for use in cases of latex allergy.
