Liniments for Medical Massage
Medical liniments are commonly used with older patients to improve circulation, such as CosiMed Lemon Balm Liniment. Liniments are also frequently applied after massages or following sports activities. The application can be done with various types of liniments. Alcohol-based liniments are especially popular due to their refreshing and cooling effects. Many products are additionally enriched with essential oils, such as lavender, lemon, mint, or arnica oil.
Different Types of Liniments
The respiratory-stimulating liniment (ASE), often used in nursing, supports not only respiratory therapy but also relaxation, sleep promotion, and enhanced wellbeing. It is frequently applied as an adjunct to weaning patients off respiratory devices. Special liniments are applied directly to the skin and rubbed in using rhythmic movements. This technique falls under the category of basal stimulation.
Another therapeutic method is the rhythmic liniment. It can be applied to various parts of the body and is intended to support the healing process. The rhythmic rubbing stimulates skin circulation and simultaneously strengthens the bond between caregiver and recipient. Like the respiratory-stimulating liniment, rhythmic liniments are often used in nursing. Patients typically perceive rhythmic liniments as soothing and relaxing.
The Effect of Liniments
Rubbing the skin with liniments, which are usually alcohol-based, stimulates skin circulation. The massage effect loosens the treated muscles or tissue, which is why liniments are often used after physical activity or following massages. Due to the alcohol content and added essential oils, the liniments also have a refreshing effect. Additionally, applying liniments often provides a relaxing sensation for the recipient.
Liniments and wellness liquids for external use, for example in physiotherapy, are available from Praxisdienst in various fragrances and package sizes. We also offer a practical selection of cleaning and disinfectant products, as well as paper products in the Hygiene category.
