Vasofix® Safety IV Catheter
The Vasofix Safety Cannula
Vasofix Safety is a safety IV cannula designed to minimise the risk of needlestick injuries. Once the cannula is withdrawn through the catheter hub, the safety mechanism activates and the safety clip encloses the tip of the cannula.
Needles for Punctures, Injections & Infusions
Needles in a wide range of designs and sizes are essential tools in medical practice, used for injections, infusions, blood collection, and fluid drainage. They are typically used with a syringe. In our online shop, you’ll find sterile needles from leading manufacturers such as B. Braun, Becton Dickinson, Fresenius Kabi, and Sarstedt at competitive prices. In addition to single-use needles, this category also includes sampling and injection needles, blunt needles, safety needles, venipuncture needles, and IV cannulas. We offer needles in various sizes and configurations to suit every clinical need.
Intramuscular, Subcutaneous & Intravenous Injections
At Praxisdienst, you’ll find a large selection of sterile single-use needles for intravenous, intramuscular, and subcutaneous injections, such as Microlance or Sterican needles. These individually sterile-packaged needles are used alongside pre-filled syringes, particularly for vaccinations and intramuscular or subcutaneous drug administration.
Injection needles typically feature a specially designed bevelled tip that allows the needle to cut through the skin rather than displacing tissue. This ensures less painful punctures for patients while protecting surrounding tissue.
Depending on the application, needles come with either a Luer slip or Luer-Lock connection. A Luer slip has a straight taper, while a Luer-Lock needle features two small notches on the hub for secure attachment to syringes. These are particularly useful for viscous medications like testosterone or thick substances such as hyaluronic acid, which require higher injection pressure.
Venipuncture Needles
Commonly known as butterfly needles, venipuncture needles feature two side wings and an attached tube with a Luer or Luer-Lock connector. They are mainly used for short-term intravenous drug administration or infusion, but their fine needle also makes them ideal for blood collection. Even with challenging veins, these needles allow precise puncture. Once successfully inserted, blood flows automatically into the tube, and colour-coded hubs make selecting the correct size quick and easy.
IV Cannulas
In our IV cannulas category, you’ll find port cannulas and safety IV cannulas in all common sizes. In addition to the classic cannula with injection port, we also offer safety IV cannulas such as the Vasofix Safety cannula or BD Insyste Autoguard, providing enhanced protection against needlestick injuries. A mandrin is used to safely close the lumen of the cannula. According to current KRINKO recommendations, a closed peripheral venous catheter carries a higher risk of contamination, so we recommend using B. Braun Safeflow extension sets to secure IV cannulas safely.
Blunt Needles
For fluid administration or aspiration during wound care, we offer a range of blunt needles. Depending on your needs, they are available sterile or non-sterile, in straight or curved forms. With a Luer-Lock connection, blunt needles fit all standard syringes. You can choose from reusable stainless-steel needles or disposable high-quality plastic needles, available in packs of up to 200 pieces.
Sampling and Injection Needles
For clean and efficient aspiration or addition of infusion fluids, the sampling & injection needles category includes infusion needles and mini-spikes with or without filters. These feature a Luer-Lock hub for attaching multiple syringes consecutively and can pierce infusion or medication bottles. We also offer semi-blunt mixing needles such as the Sterican Mix needle, or blunt-tip needles like the BD Blunt Fill needle, ideal for drawing fluids from ampoules.
