Irrigation Cannulas for Application and Aspiration of Fluids
Unlike disposable cannula, most irrigation cannulas are made entirely of metal, allowing them to be easily disinfected and sterilized. The rounded tip features an opening through which liquid medications can be administered or secretions aspirated. Irrigation cannulas are typically used for wound irrigation of cavities that cannot be surgically treated due to their location or increased risk of infection.
Straight, easily accessible channels can usually be irrigated with a straight irrigation cannula, while angled wound cavities are best treated with a curved irrigation cannula.
