Lancets for Capillary Blood Sampling
Lancets are small needles encapsulated in plastic and used with a lancing device to prick a small hole in the skin in order to draw blood. A lancet usually consists of a moulded piece of plastic with a round cap, under which there is a needle. The needle is exposed by removing the cap. They are used for the simple and nearly painless collection of smaller amounts of blood, e.g., for rapid tests or finger-prick testing for blood glucose measurement in combination with a blood sugar meter in patients with diabetes. In order to minimize cross-contamination and infectious transmissions our lancets are strictly individually sterile wrapped and are solely designed for one-time use.
Lancets with Fixed or Variable Puncture Depth
Lancets also have applications in dermatology and cosmetic procedures, where sterile lancing devices can be used to open acne lesions. They have also proven useful in radiology, for example, as a practical tool to mark puncture sites.
