Pipette Types

There are various pipettes that differ in their design and purpose of use.

Graduated Pipette

Pipettes with clear scaling are known as graduated pipettes. Since graduated pipettes can withdraw and measure different volumes, they are particularly flexible to use.

While the classic graduated pipette is a reusable glass pipette, there are also single-use plastic pipettes that are ideal for medical application. Due to its scale in ul or ml steps, this pipette type is much more versatile than a volumetric pipette.

Pasteur Pipette

Plastic Pasteur pipettes offer many advantages. Firstly, their number of drops per ml is easy to calculate and they can be used to store liquids. If heated, the pipette tip melts and seals itself shut, which keeps the pipetted fluids inside.

Otherwise, the pipette can be frozen together with its contents, to be thawed if needed. As a result, this type is also known as a transfer pipette.

Micropipette/Piston Pipette

Micropipettes or piston stroke pipettes are reusable pipettes that are equipped with disposable pipette tips. This makes them particularly hygienic to use and ideal for medical labs.

We offer, for example, the FAB – Variable Volume Air-Displacement Pipette from Accumax, available in various models with adjustable volumes ranging from 0.1 µl to 10,000 µl. Thanks to the magnetic plunger support, the difference between pressure points is clearly noticeable. The air-displacement pipette enables precise, fatigue-free, and effortless pipetting. The volume-lock system prevents accidental changes to the set pipetting volume.

Pipettes for Specific Applications

For measurements requiring a wide dosing range, the Multipette® M4 is ideal. It can be used, for example, when filling reaction vessels or other long dispensing series (up to 100 dispensing steps per tip). The package includes the Multipette® M4 along with Combitips and a holder.

Pipette Tips

Filter tips are single-use items and are available both sterile and non-sterile. They come in various volumes to suit your requirements. The sterile filter tips from Heinz Herenz, with volumes ranging from 10 µl to 100 µl, are supplied in a practical and hygienic rack that is autoclavable and reusable.
