Sample Vessels and Sample Transport Containers

Sample transport containers and sample vessels are often used laboratory items in the general practice, for example, when sample containers need to be sent off to a microbiology lab for further diagnostics. Hygienic and low-oder sample storage is achieved by the primary container–the stool sample tube, in this case.

A secondary container like the dokuCare transport bag carries the primary vessel, i.e. the sample tube, and must provide a liquid-tight seal for mailing liquid materials or a particle-tight seal for mailing solid materials. The medical shipping bags are then further protected by an outer container.

Primary Containers when Sending Specimen Samples

Sample vessels collect medical specimens for examination. Stool sample containers make possible a hygienic, odourless seal through a screw cap. The integrated sample spoon in the primary container allows for touch-free sample taking.

Containers with attached snap lids are not recommended, as they cannot be securely closed. In our Praxisdienst shop, containers are available in various sizes of up to 17 ml, allowing long-term sample storage.

The StorAX Cary-Blair Transport Tubes from Axon Lab are made of durable, transparent polypropylene (PP) and feature a conical interior bottom. The brown screw cap includes a spoon for easy and hygienic sample collection. The PP stool transport tube has a volume of 7.5 ml.

Secondary Packaging for Examination Material as per ADR

LDPE film bags are extremely tear-resistant and are therefore ideal as outer packaging for PP sample containers. The waterproof bags can be securely sealed using a self-adhesive flap. For example, the plastic docuCare med shipping bags from Heinz Herenz are printed opaque on one side, protecting patient information. We also offer PE containers that integrate a primary container into a secondary packaging. This practical combination eliminates the need to assemble and order both types of packaging separately for laboratory samples.
