Blood Glucose Test Strips for Medical Facilities & Diabetic Patients

Blood glucose test strips are used in combination with digital glucose monitors for quickly and precisely testing blood glucose levels. The test strips are used to absorb capillary blood, gained by pricking the skin with a lancet or a lancing device. Then, the strip is brought to the sensor. The biochemical sensors are based on enzyme activity and create an electric signal that is intensified and interpreted by the glucose meter.

 

Modern Blood Glucose Test Strips Save on Blood Quantity & Measurement Time

In contrast to previous models, modern testing strips only need the minimal quantity of approximately 0.4 µl of blood to deliver reliable results. This is especially beneficial for patients who have to control their blood sugar levels regularly, e.g. if they are suffering from diabetes mellitus. Another advantage of the new meters and strips is, that the results are delivered within seconds.

This is particularly time-saving for medical facilities, such as surgeries, hospitals or nursing homes. Moreover, diabetes patients profit from the shorter measurement times, as blood sugar determination can be integrated into everyday life more easily.

 

Depending on the device, glucose levels are determined with whole blood or plasma. Many modern test strips also have an automatic underfilling detection for the sensor: the blood glucose monitoring only starts when a minimum amount of blood has been applied. This effectively prevents measurement errors and unnecessary consumption of blood glucose tests.

 

While some manufacturers require the blood glucose monitor to be calibrated with a code strip included in the pack of test strips, codefree strips can be used immediately, without needing calibration.

 

Instead of using conventional test strips, the Accu-Chek Mobile Glucometer uses a test cassette. It allows up to 50 measurements with one single cassette. With this system, it is not necessary to remove individual nest strips, as the cassette is completely disposed of after use.

Blood Glucose Test Strips for Older Adults with Diabetes

Older adults with diabetes often find it difficult to perform self-monitoring of blood glucose using narrow test strips and small displays. The test strips for the Accu-Chek Aviva meters are larger, making them especially easy to handle for seniors. In addition, the Accu-Chek Aviva test strips from Roche offer a wide measurement range, reliably detecting both very low and very high glucose levels.

 

The Accu-Chek Guide test strips are also ideal for seniors due to their wider application area. The practical dispenser box containing 50 test strips is designed so that the remaining strips automatically move forward after one is removed. This feature makes the Accu-Chek Guide blood glucose test strips easier to handle and prevents accidental contact with the remaining strips.
