Lancing Devices for Blood Drawing
Some rapid tests performed in medical practices and hospitals require only small amounts of capillary blood. Venous blood collection for this purpose would therefore not only be time-consuming but also uneconomical. Lancing devices and lancets (also called blood lancets or needles) are specially designed for low-pain blood collection and enable the collection of small amounts of capillary blood by puncturing the tip of the finger, earlobe, or heel in the case of newborns.
Particularly in the context of diabetes monitoring, lancing devices are ideal for quick and easy blood collection for measuring glucose in the blood. People with diabetes often use such a device to test and monitor their blood glucose levels at home or on the go. In such cases, people usually perform a finger prick to take the sample. Regular testing in this manner can help diabetics manage their diabetes symptoms.
Different Lancing Devices
In general, lancing devices either have integrated or exchangeable lancets.
